Ronelle Reid: Breaking the Rules of Nature

(and Why You’ll Want to Look Twice)

Ronelle Reid’s work is where wildlife meets the unexpected. Her vibrant, detail-rich paintings are playful on the surface, but dig deeper and you’ll find reflections on extinction, adaptation, and how animals are being forced to change because of us.

At this year’s Brisbane Affordable Art Fair, she’s bringing the full menagerie. Conversations with Nature features a range of quirky, affordable mini works that spark curiosity (and conversation) about the many animals at risk of extinction. Housing Crisis draws a sharp parallel between humans and wildlife being pushed out of their homes — a playful yet powerful reminder of just how connected our crises really are. Imitation of Life takes aim at our love for mascots and merchandise, asking why we care more about Care Bear soft toys than the real animals they’re based on. And Signs of the Times turns up the volume on endangered birds, using bold symbolism to highlight who’s at risk of disappearing next — often thanks to the very developments that knock down their habitats, then name the streets after them.

“Imitation of Life- Giant Panda” will be on show at the Brisbane Affordable Art Fair next month.

Ronelle’s art is layered, colourful, and quietly confronting — the kind that makes you smile, then think twice.
It’s perfect for collectors who want something bold, meaningful, and a little bit wild.

Ronelle joins us as one of 56 incredible artists at this year’s Brisbane Affordable Art Fair — and if you’re into art that’s clever, reflective, and packs a punch… this is your sign to look twice.

If you want first pick of what everyone will be talking about, make sure you have signed up for the presale catalogue: www.aspiregallery.com.au/coming-soon
